La Manga is Europe’s leading Golf resort… again!

For the third time in five years, La Manga Club has been recognised as Europe’s top golf resort at a major international holiday award ceremony. World Travel Awards held in New York, it was named Europe’s Leading Golf Resort 2008.

La Manga has always been a fantastic golf holiday , and with its three championship courses and outstanding practice facilities, it is perhaps hardly surprising that it has been voted Europe’s top golf holiday resort twice in the past five years*. The resort has also recently been chosen as the official winter training base of the German PGA.

This wonderful resort has played host to many international tournaments including the Spanish Open, PGA Spanish Championships, Spanish Junior Championships, Ladies’ Spanish Open and Senior Spanish Open for men.

The three top-quality, 18-hole championship courses all benefit from uniquely tranquil surroundings and provide many superb views. Whether you are fine-tuning your technique or learning the rudiments of the game, this fabulous resort offers a truly diverse and unique golfing holiday experience.

*La Manga Club voted European Golf Resort of the Year, Hertz International Golf Travel Awards, 1999. Europe’s Leading Golf Resort, World Travel Awards, 2001.

Originally designed by Robert D Putman, this classic championship course was remodelled in 1992 by Arnold Palmer, who won the Spanish Open here in 1975.

The South Golf course is located in the centre of the golf valley. With wide palm-fringed fairways and few hidden dangers, the South golf course whilst being a top-calibre championship course is enjoyed by golfers of all standards. Many strategically positioned water hazards and bunkers will punish wayward shots. Length 6361 metres, par 72.

La Manga Golf Course

Recently completely renovated, the North Golf Course is now, for many players, the highlight of their golfing holiday. The North Course is more undulating than the South Golf Course and offers a different, yet no less challenging, round of golf. Relying on precision rather than length, an added challenge is provided by the ‘barrancas’ that snake their way through the course.

The natural storm gullies feature on all three La Manga Club golf courses and add an extra dimension to the game. As with the South Course, and particularly on the back nine, water is a prominent feature.

La Manga West Golf Course

Set amid serene pine woodlands, the West Golf Course has frequent changes in elevation with which to contend. This is a deceiving course that demands the occasional blind shot. A tight front nine contrasts with the more open, but nonetheless challenging, back nine.

Those who get the better of the charming and elusive West Course will have played a memorable round and conquered only a third of La Manga Club finest golfing triangle.

The resort Golf Academy caters for all levels of ability, from beginner through to intermediate and advanced. PGA-qualified golf professionals guide participants through five mornings of instruction, and their enthusiasm and friendliness make each lesson relaxed, fun and informative. Classes take place Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and are located at the Golf Academy next to the golf clubhouse.

Long Game Clinic

The long game is comprehensively covered at the La Manga Club Golf Training Centre by Thomas Johansson, giving you the confidence to take your knowledge from the academy onto the course, and encompasses:

  • Selecting the right club
  • Step-by-step breakdown, including grip, stance, etc
  • Striking the golf ball
  • Demonstrations of common mistakes
  • The draw and the fade
  • Video analysis of your swing

The Short Game

  • Chipping onto the green with a range of irons
  • Bunker play
  • Pitching over hazards
  • Practice drills

Introduction to Putting

  • Adjusting the stance for putting
  • Reading the greens
  • Useful practice drills
  • Advanced putting

A-Star Video Analysis

A-Star, the world’s most advanced computerised video analysis system, gives you the chance to assess your progress and understand the modifications needed to perfect your swing.

  • Instant visualisation and on-screen analysis
  • Side-by-side comparison of different swings
  • Developing an understanding of swing modifications

La Manga Golf Facilities

Beside the golf clubhouse is an 80-bay, floodlit driving range, complete with target greens as well as a large practice bunker, plus chipping and putting greens.

Pitch and Putt

The 18-hole, par 47 pitch and putt course is located close to the Tennis Centre. This picturesque course comes complete with bunkers and water hazards, offering ideal practice and enjoyment for the whole family.

Junior Golf at La Manga

As in most sports, learning from a young age multiplies the chances of becoming an accomplished player or even a professional later on.

The three 18-hole courses and the quality of the practice facilities on the resort are well suited for juniors to train and familiarise with the game. The Academy of Golf courses are ideal for juniors and adults alike.

Youngsters of 15 years old and under benefit from a 40% discount on the green fees and Par 47 rates.
