The Sand at The Plettenberg
This restaurant embraces views of Formosa Bay that are unsurpassed along this stretch of the beautiful South African coast. The mood is relaxed, the décor stylish contemporary, and the food modern South African.
Sand is open for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. Breakfasts offer a sumptuous buffet of fresh fruit, cheeses, cold meats, cereals and yoghurts, or a full cooked English breakfast of your choice. Keep an eye open for the chef’s special “cooked breakfast” selection.
The new Sandbar at The Plettenberg is a stunning mix of design, glass, white leather, white marble, natural oak, clever concealed lighting and photographic art panels. Laid back yet glamorous. Relaxed yet sophisticated.
Central to the design and new mood lighting – bulkhead, bar counter top and at the base of the bar have concealed lighting to make all elements appear floating off the floor and ceiling. The bar is made up of white marble top with glass cantilevered side with lights inside to shine through the marble and glass. The front is covered in white leather and glass panel which is lit up by the light spilling out of the opaque glass on the front of the counter top. The base of the bar has more concealed lighting which lifts the whole bar counter off the floor. The bar stools are covered in white leather. The whole effect is cool, chic and enticing.
The centre piece of the lounge section is a vibrant 5 meter long canvas of mood images of Plett printed on the canvas. It immediately puts one in a holiday mood. There are 2 x 3 meter high glass photo panels that are lit up creating ambient light and living art works.
The furniture has simple, clean lines in tones of white leather, textured sand fabrics and soft pale blue with bright splashes of lime accents.
The Sandbar is the place to be seen in Plettenberg this and any summer. Cocktails, cocktails and more cocktails.
For a romantic dinner for two, enjoy the Plettenberg’s state-of-the-art Wine Cellar, surrounded by bottles and bottles of the best South African wines from their award-winning wine list. Let the Plettenberg’s very own Sommelier recommend the perfect wine to go with your meal.
