D'Ouwe Werf Services

The D'Ouwe Werf inn consists of 31 en-suite bedrooms which are individually styled with antiques collected over the years. Modern facilities, and staff who pride themselves on their friendly, personal and professional service, make each visit an enjoyable and memorable one. Free valet parking is offered and transport to and from Cape Town International Airport can be arranged.

D'Ouwe Werf Accommodation

D'Ouwe Werf has 3 room types spread over 5 buildings. The rooms either overlook the beautiful landscaped courtyard and garden, or Church Street. No two rooms are alike but there are enough similarities to classify the three types. All rooms have air conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, M-Net, fridges and fully appointed bathrooms. Each category has both double and twin rooms.

Superior Rooms

The superior rooms are the best at D'Ouwe Werf. There are 14 spread over 3 buildings, with 6 being furnished in Georgian or Victorian style and 6 in a traditional Cape style. The superior rooms are larger than the rest and all have separate showers and baths, except for 2 junior suites situated in the historic building. The newer 6 rooms in the villa also have separate walk-in dressing rooms.

Luxury Rooms

The luxury rooms are situated in the original building (1802) of D'Ouwe Werf . They are also large rooms furnished with antiques and decorated and styled individually. The main difference between the Luxury and Superior is the size of the bathrooms. The Luxury rooms all have bath/shower combinations. As with the 6 Superior rooms, the style of furniture is Georgian or Victorian.

Classic Rooms

The classic rooms are slightly smaller than the other room types at D'Ouwe Werf and again have bath/shower combinations. These rooms are furnished with repro-duction pieces but each has its own personal character. The Classic rooms are all roughly the same size making them the ideal choice for smaller groups of guests..

D'Ouwe Werf offers Design Holidays guests the perfect retreat from the hub-bub of activities in Stellenbosch. The Voorkamer will beckon you to linger beside the old stove fire and sip a vintage wine for which the region is famous. A serene closure to your day might be spent beside the fire with a fine glass of port in "de Kromme Elleboog" ("the raised elbow"). The private courtyard with the heated swimming pool at its centre is a tranquil setting to prepare you for an exciting day ahead, D'Ouwe Werf being the perfect setting from which to explore the splendour of the Cape Winelands. The courtyard's relaxing atmosphere will also ease away any strains after a busy day.

D'Ouwe Werf Restaurant

The "1802 Restaurant" is renowned for its traditional and international cuisine with a superb wine list that will satisfy even the most sophisticated connoisseur. On sunny days, sit outside in the vine-covered coffee gar-den, and enjoy a slice of cheesecake so good, it is held to be the best in town.

D'Ouwe Werf Activities

A myriad shops, museums, art galleries and beautiful examples of Cape Dutch architecture are in Stellenbosch within easy walking distance of the hotel. Guests can sit back and sip sundowners in the tranquillity of a lovely verdant garden, or enjoy a dip in the heated swimming pool while others bask in the sun on the wooden deck or patio. For all those who feel a bit more energetic, there are superb golf courses in close proximity to the Stellenbosch, guided historical village walks, wine tours and a variety of other activities that can be arranged from D'Ouwe Werf.
