'Having extended our existing sponsorship agreement from 2001, we have seen a fantastic improvement from regional underachievers to one of the best pro tennis teams in Britain, says Johnny Barr Director of Design Holidays , player & team captain. At the Kia National Tennis Team finals in September 2007 they were ousted in a marathon semi final by East Gloucester the champions in 2006 & 2007. Each year we add to our squad bringing in world class tennis talent such as ex wimbledon stars Luke Milligan and Lee Childs along with national players Tom Burn and Michael Ouvarov. This season was no exception with the same squad being strengthened with the inclusion of top British junior Alex Bull and Scottish International David Brewer.' New Recruits for 2008 are current wimbledon doubles specialist Neil Bamford and ex Wimbledon players Colin Beecher & Marten Renstrom. Watch this space for an even stronger squad in 2009.

La Manga Tennis Academies

Whether you're a complete beginner, a keen amateur or an up-and-coming club player, La Manga Club Tennis Academy will help you brush up your strokes in no time and give you the perfect tennis holiday.

Under the direction of La Manga Club head pro, Fraser Wright, the multilingual coaching team at the La Manga Club tennis centre offers a comprehensive, personalised and professional service for individuals, teams and clubs, all year round.

La Manga Tennis Academy Courses

• Players are graded & split into groups of no more than six students per pro
• Available all year round, Monday to Friday mornings
• Experienced multilingual coaching staff

There are two options to choose from:

15-hour Academy

Two hours of on-court coaching each morning, from Monday to Friday. The following themes are worked on and developed throughout the week:

• Forehand
• Backhand
• Serve
• Volley
• Singles and doubles tactics
• Smash
• Approach shots
• Lobs
• Drop shots

Plus

One hour each morning in the air-conditioned Academy room including:

• Computer-assisted shot analysis using V1 digital coaching technology
• Matchplay theory and tactics
• Personal player profile

La Manga 10-hour Tennis Academy

Two hours of on-court coaching each morning, from Monday to Friday, as detailed above.

La Manga Junior Pro Tennis Academy

Designed to meet the needs of up-and-coming tournament players, the new Junior Pro Academy offers 20 hours of coaching a week. While the morning sessions focus primarily on technical skills, the afternoon sessions emphasise technical, tactical, physical and mental skills, also using the V1 digital video analysis system. The Junior Pro Academy operates during the summer holidays, with two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon, Monday to Friday.

La Manga Junior Tennis Academies

Five-day intensive group coaching programmes, running from Monday to Friday, are offered for the following age groups:

• 16 to 19 years
• 15 and under
• 12 and under
• 9 and under
• 6 and under

Tailor-made Coaching Programmes

The experienced La Manga Club tennis pros are also available for one-to-one coaching or for personalised coaching programmes for groups, teams and clubs.

La Manga Tennis Social Events & Tournaments

You can put your skills to the test at the regular tournaments and friendly matches that are organised by the La Manga Club tennis pros all year round. During the summer, the La Manga Club Tennis Centre hosts regular BBQ Quiz Nights and Celebrity Matches. To find out more and to meet the La Manga Club pros and fellow players, come along to the Tennis Welcome Afternoon, held every Sunday at Europe's finest tennis holiday resort - La Manga Club !
