Quinta do Lago is a spectacular, unspoiled estate of over l,700 acres of natural pine forest, rolling grassland and lakes. Quinta do Lago includes part of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and is fronted by a 10km stretch of golden sands. The environment has been carefully preserved and within this natural setting only 8% of land is given over to building development. This is shared between large and attractive villas in their own grounds and smaller self-contained developments which include apartments and townhouses.

Quinta do Lago is also renowned for its beautiful 36 holes of golf and many of the properties have spectacular views of the greens and fairways. On the lake there is sailing, a windsurfing school and watersports. Other amenities include an equestrian centre, golf driving range, many bars, restaurants and night clubs and a good choice of tennis facilities, particularly the Vilar do Golf tennis centre which provides professional coaching and match arranging. There are several ways to the beach, but the most memorable is across a long wooden bridge over the Nature Reserve. On the other side are splendid golden dunes and a very long beach.
