Portugal Wins 16 World Travel Awards

Design Holidays are proud to announce that Portugal, which is located in South-Western Europe, on the Iberian Peninsula, has just received 16 top travel awards at the prestigious World Travel Awards Europe 2014.

Celebrating its 21st anniversary this year’s World Travel Awards was held in Athens, Greece. The World Travel Awards acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards are recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire. The World Travel Awards are literally known as the ‘Oscars of the Travel Industry’. The winners are determined by an online vote cast by hundreds of travel professionals and consumers around the world.

In 2013, Portugal only achieved 9 of the World Travel Awards Europe. However form among the 44 Portuguese nominations for 2014, Portugal walked away with a whopping 16 Awards.
