Le Meridien Penina Hotel - a super venue for Children

Penguin Village - Le Meridien Penina's unique facility for children that offers a range of activities including an adventure play area, swimming pool and slide, crèche, toys, arts and crafts materials and a Penguin Mac Restaurant, which is open during Penguin Village opening times. Bicycles, film shows and a bouncy castle are further facilities for children.

Penguin Village welcomes children from 6months to 12years with local cost depending on child age. Facilities have to be confirmed with room reservation and the name and age of the children in order to validate discounts.

Open - Easter to end of October & Christmas from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. During July and August from 9:30 am to 10:00 pm, seven days a week.

Babysitting - a minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for babysitting. The hotel does not provide a baby listening service. Cots are available in both Penguin Village and in the rooms.

Children's menu - an à la carte children's menu is available at Sagres Restaurant and the Club Brasserie for children up to 11 years of age, and there is an à la carte or buffet lunch / dinner at the Penguin Village. High chairs are available.

Grill Restaurant - formal restaurant serving à la carte with seating for up to 60.

L'Arlecchino Restaurant - serving Italian cuisine with à la carte menu and seats 40. Open only in the Summer.

Pool Restaurant - a great place for light meals, seating 40. Open only in the Summer.

Beach Restaurant - serves light meals, seating 50. Open only in the Summer.

Monchique Cocktail Bar - cocktail bar. Seats 80.

Le Meridien Penina Hotel - Leisure Facilities

The Algarve, with its pleasant climate, is a perfect place for leisure and sports enthusiasts. Golf is particularly high on the list of things to do, and there are numerous courses to test even the most ardent player.

At the hotel there is the exclusive and challenging 18-hole Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course, as well as the Academy Course for beginners and a new 9-hole Resort Course. There is also an extensive driving range and huge putting green.

The beach is four kilometres away from the hotel (with complimentary transfers from June to the end of September). The nearest town, with shops, local entertainment and a casino, is four kilometres from the resort at Portimão, and Lagos is 12 kilometres away.

Le Meridien Penina Hotel - Sports and Leisure

Le Meridien Penina Golf & Resort offers a wide range of sporting and leisure facilities that includes three golf courses, an 18-hole Championship Course, a 9-hole Academy Course and a 9-hole Resort Course. There is a Golf Academy for golfers of all abilities, and Penina offers a five-day golf instruction programme. These clinics are conducted as a group, with a maximum of pupils to one professional, and must be booked with at least seven days' notice. The resort also offers a driving range, practice holes and putting greens.

Start times on the golf courses can be pre-booked upon room reservation, subject to course availability. A handicap certificate of 28 is required for men and 36 for ladies on the Championship Course, and soft spikes are required to play on all courses.

Further sporting facilities include six floodlit tennis courts, five of which are hard-surface courts, and one Astro Turf court. Fees for tennis courts and lessons at the Tennis Academy are available at the hotel's resort reservations centre.

The FIFA-sized football field has been used by teams such as Chelsea from the UK and Borussia Dortmund from Germany for their winter training. There is also a three-kilometre jogging circuit with 12 exercise stations for individual and family runs that is free of charge for guests.

A fully equipped gymnasium is also free of charge for guests and a full-size snooker table is available free of charge for guests over 18 years of age.

Mountain bikes are available all year round for rides within the resort at a small local cost.

Standard

Superior

Junior Suites

These suites have either one or two twin bedrooms and two or four bathrooms. The lounge is very much larger than Junior Suite lounges.
